Continuing on with our series of weekly air conditioner efficiency tips, this week we want to talk about the temperature that you are keeping your house at. There is no need to blast the air conditioner at full tilt while you’re at work. Install a programmable thermostat that lets you set slightly higher temps when you’re gone and cooler temps when you’re home. Unless you’re going on vacation, don’t shut off the system; otherwise, the compressor will need to work harder and longer to cool your house later.
Even better have you considered, the Nest thermostat – it learns your preferences and when you are at home and away and adjusts accordingly. You can also make adjustments from your phone for added convenience.
